I’m interested in the gendered “natural” world. Much of what we think of as nature, (gardens, parks, fields and forests) is the by-product of human activity. The natural world is often romanticized, Eden to which we long to return. That women have an inherent relation to nature is deeply imbedded in the history and the psyche of our culture. I continue to question this in my work, through choices of form and materials. My work explores the history and uses of cultivated and wild plants and their associations with the feminine, as “Eve” remains, problematically, hostess in any Eden.
