RCA member Leslie Reid is featured in a solo exhibition entitled “Mapping a Cold War” at the Founders’ Gallery, Military Museums in Calgary, Alberta.
This exhibition is the result of Reid’s participation in the Canadian Forces Artist Program (CFAP). Through this residency, Reid travelled with the military throughout the North, following in the footsteps of her father who, as a young man with the Royal Canadian Air Force, flew photographic mapping missions in the early years of the Cold War.
Through historical photographs, contemporary photography, painting and video, Leslie Reid explores the complexities of the Canadian North and High Arctic revealing the entwined nature of defence, northern populations, and the environment.
