The Royal Canadian Academy of Arts recognizes the excellence of Canadian undergraduate or graduate degree programs, and their instructors who educate our emerging artists and designers. We provide financial scholarships/awards to Canadian graduates of programs that will enable the recipients to pursue further study or professional development in the visual arts or design.
The RCA Scholarships/Awards Fund was established in 2000 with the long-term goal to grant an annual scholarships/awards in all disciplines represented by the RCA membership.
Competition criteria are designated by the RCA Scholarship Committee and can not be applied for directly.

The primary objective of the RCA / C.D. The Joseph Plaskett Award in Painting
The Joseph Plaskett Award in Painting, administered by the RCA, honors excellence in painting by providing $25,000 to a qualified MFA student or recent graduate for travel, studio work or study in Europe for one year. Independent juries are selected each year from among well-known Canadian artists. Criteria for eligibility and FAQ are available on the Joseph Plaskett Award site.
The Nancy Petry Award
The Nancy Petry Award in Painting, administered by the RCA, is given to an outstanding Canadian artist who has completed or is completing an MFA degree in Canada with a specialization in painting. The $10,000 award provides funding for travel, studio work or study in Europe (including the UK) for four months. Independent juries are selected each year from among well-known Canadian artists.
