“Peter Krausz: Eklektikos brings together works produced over three decades including recent work shown for the first time. The exhibition addresses the utopian and dystopian undercurrents of the artist's practice and focusses on the apparent eclecticism of this corpus while revealing the formal and conceptual investigations that tie this body of work together. While previous exhibitions have stressed the idyllic qualities of Krausz's more recent work, less attention has been given to the social and political content inherent in his secco landscapes.
Drawing on earlier work to contextualize a politically engaged practice, this exhibition proposal was prepared collaboratively by the artist and curator, Karine Raynor with the intent of pressing the eclectic yet connected practice of the artist. The word eclectic whose root lies in the greek eklektikos "to seek-out" and eklegein "to gather" speaks of the deliberate choices the artist has made in resorting to different modes of expression, highlighting some of the artist's lesser known preoccupations in regards to migration, disappearance and mortality.”
